ABOUT
So Matsukawa is a Japanese conductor born on August 23, 1992 in Tokyo.
He got 1st prize in the Brass Band Conductors’ Association’s (BBCA) conducting Competition2024 organized by Brass Band Conductors’ Association, sponsored by YAMAHA in Manchester, England.
And he got 2nd prize in the CONSTANTIN SILVESTRI International Conducting Competition, 2nd Edition in Bucharest, Romania in June 2024, organized by the Silvestri Foundation and the Bucharest National Opera, and took place under the high patronage of the President of Romania and the Romanian Ministry of Culture.
And he got 3rd prize in the 7th Ionel Perlea International Conductor Competition in Romania in July 2023.
In September of the same year, he was selected as one of 17 out of 531 applicants and 111 participants in 1st International Ferenc Fricsay Conducting Competition in Hungary.
Also in December, he was selected as 7 semi-finalist out of 132 applicants in 3rd International Orchestra Conducting Competition “University of Almería” in Spain.
In the 2020 Yamada Sadao Music Foundation Conductor Audition in Japan, he received the Yamada Sadao Music Foundation Special Selection(1st prize) and Music Award and conducted Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra at the Laureate Concert.
In November 2023, he served as assistant to Music Director Robin Ticciati at the Berliner Philharmonie subscription concert of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
In February 2024 also, he served as assistant to him at DSO, and conducted off stage music of “Tristan and Isolde (Concert performance)” at the Berliner Philharmonie.
